It's that time of year

Halloween's just around the corner, so it's time to revisit our Halloweeny movie list. Here's last year's post, complete with my criteria and Top Twelve. Agree? Disagree? What would you add (sorry, no subtractions)? And, of course, the age-old question: is The Nightmare Before Christmas a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie?

I also posted on the dearth of Halloween songs here, which morphed into a respectable list of dead-teenager songs (very popular in the 1950s and 60s) here. A run-down of scary men o' the movies are posted here. Scary chicks, here. Feel free to add to.

Now, you have almost a whole month to indulge in classic movie and music horror. Ooooooooooooh! Mwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!

I'd like to add my little Katie's favorite. It would rank right down at the bottom, but since it is her favorite, I knew you'd appreciate it. "Halloweentown." It appears over and over and over on the Disney Channel throughout October. Not a classic, but since it stars Debbie Reynolds, how bad can it be? And it must be fairly popular since last year (or maybe earlier, the mind's a goin') "Halloweentown II" premiered.

Yes, I do like the Halloweentown series. Isn't there going to be a new one this year, or am I getting the Disney Channel ads confused? At any rate, I have seen two of them - thought a third one was in the works.

Simpson's "Tree house of Horror" Halloween specials are always good. Poe's "The Raven" read by James Earl Jones is a modern classic.

We don't have Halloween downunder although my mother took part in the Halloween experience when she visited the USA.

Another couple of actors to consider are Christopher Lee & Peter Cushing who did a lot of gothic horror pics for British Hammer studios.

Mary, you are right. There are currently three Halloweentown movies: Halloweentown, Halloweentown II (the Revenge of someone), and Halloweentown High. I forgot all about Halloweentown High, but the kids reminded me of it when I brought this up last night. We'll be going to see an IMAX show, Haunted Castle 3D, soon. Could be another to add to your list.
