Last week I wrote about being sucked under by the quicksand of writer-stuck. Well, the good news is that I have pulled myself out of the muck and have completed all but one of the work-related writing projects I mentioned.
The other good news is that a couple of stories that have been oozing around in my brain have started to sink in to become real stories. Ideas are poppin' all over the place. Not only that, but characters are coming out of thin air. It's like an episode of "Twilight Zone" (but without the toy telephone), where the characters are starting to take over my thoughts.
And. The characters from the two stories are waking me up at night. And talking to each other. Across stories. Very spooky. Still, they're giving me some good plots lines, so I really can't complain.
Perhaps it's time to get professional help.

Thank goodness! Spooky is right -- did you become unstuck on Halloween?
Yes, child, you be a good girl now. Get back on your medications and give it a few days. If this keeps up, then we'll take you back to the good Dr. Skullencrack and see if some more of those shock treatments will help...
It is odd how we can be so prolific one day and such a dry well the next, how it comes in goes in waves. I have experienced that cycle several times right here on my blog. All my readers, both of you, are usually so happy when my mind shuts down and I have nothing to say. Wonder what causes it... diet? something in the air? external events? stress? the same stuff that causes us to dream?
Elsie - Hmmm. Unstuck at Halloween. Sounds right to me!
Winston - I always fear for the day when that next wave doesn't come. Yikes! As one of your two readers (:-0), let me say we are never joyful when you shut down, as we hang on your every word.
So I'll let the characters battle it out in my brain. But I've taken the toy telephone off the hook . . .
Yes, professional help sounds necessary. Either that or chocolate. Which might be cheaper.
Are they good conversations? Intersting enough to be awake for? Being woken up to hear a character being boring would not be fun.
