OK. I asked the questions, so I should answer them:
1. The first chapter of Jerome K. Jerome's "Three Men in a Boat (to Say Nothing of the Dog)."
2. "Travelin' Man" by Ricky Nelson.
3. A guitar to my daughter, who took to it like a duck to water (and still plays)
4. Oh, there have been so many. I'll choose the one in the 7th grade, where - in an age of smooth, teased hair - my mother had it cut very short and PERMED!
