The Booker long-list 17 has been whittled down to these six: The Sea by John Banville, Arthur and George by Julian Barnes, A Long, Long Way by Sebastian Barry, Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, The Accidental by Ali Smith, and On Beauty by Zadie Smith. The only ones on the list available in the US right now are the ones by Barry and Ishiguro. Some big names didn't make the cut, most notably Salman Rushdie and Ian McEwan.
